When a piling is installed in the water and embedded into the sand table, it is exposed to many elements that will shorten the lifespan of the piling. Worms, insects, oysters, barnacles and wood rot are some of the reasons a piling will fail over time. To help prevent that, a conventional pile wrap was suggested to help block these elements from deteriorating the piling, but later it was discovered that this conventional pile wrap was not airtight and some organisms were still able to penetrate the piling and cause failure.
Duncan Seawalls new “Pile Sleeve” is designed to prevent these elements from penetrating the piling by conforming air tight to the piling. The “Pile Sleeve” has no joints or seams which can compromise the integrity of the pile wrap by letting air, water, organisms and other elements penetrate the piling.
